Faculty Advisor	一、Before the end of first academic year, Ph.D students should invite an faculty to be your advisor and submit an official application to the office.博士班學生應於就學第一學年結束前邀請且確定指導教授，並報系核備。二、如有必要，經指導教授同意，得另邀共同指導教授一名，指導教授應含本系專任教師一名（附件一：指導教授核定書）。三、博士班學生因故無法邀定指導教授前，由系主任負責其相關工作。四、博士班學生須確實認知：本系專任教師每學年指導該屆新進研究生（包括碩博士生及須重選指導教授者）人數以不超過二名為原則，其額度以學生錄取學年度計算；若有實際需要，二位教師可聯合指導一名研究生，但名額須平均並納入前述額度計算。五、系辦公室於每學年九月及二月間提供當時每位專任教師指導學生資料，作為學生邀請指導教授之參考。六、博士班學生因故須更換指導教授時，應正式提出申請，由系主任、原指導教授及博士班學生商洽適當教師擔任之。申請書須經原指導教授與新任指導教授簽署同意後，報系核備，惟以二次為限（附件二：更換指導教授申請書）。

Preliminary Exam	BICD has cancelled Preliminary Exam for Ph.D students since 2013. 自102學年度起，本系取消需參加博士班專業科目檢定考試(Preliminary Exam)之規定。 ※ 100學年度入學之博士生，得以於修業兩年內通過專業科目檢定考試。 ※ 102學年度起入學之博士生，得免參加博士班專業科目檢定考試。

Qualifying Exam	1.應考資格：博士班研究生至少在本所修讀四學期，修畢本系博士班必修課程，始得申請。 2.考試科目：（一）「必修課程」，分為「研究方法」及「核心必修」二部分。（二）「專長領域」考試內容，則針對學生選定的二個領域命題。 3.申請截止日期：12月31日（第一學期）；5月31日（第二學期）。需於欲考試之前一學期提出「資格考試申請書」。 4.考試時間：每學期辦理1次，於該學期開學後1個月內辦理，並於2週內完成考試。 5.103學年度起實施以論文發表抵免資格考新制，102學年度（含102學年度）前入學之博士生，可選擇舊制或新制完成資格考審查。 103學年新制規定應考內容：（一）博士班學生應發表研究論文一篇於具審查機制之專業期刊，並以外文發表研究論文二篇於具審查機制之國際學術研討會。（二）前款之論文必須以本系博士班學生名義與指導教授共同發表，且博士班學生為期刊論文之第一作者或通訊作者，相同論文只限一位學生申請。（三）資格考試申請須經指導教授同意後始得提出，並由研究生指導委員會審核（附件三：資格考試申請表）。 6.重考規定：資格考試未通過者，得重考一次。 7.撤銷規定：博士班學生申請資格考後，若因個人因素擬撤銷申請，須於資格考考試申請後一週內提出。逾期未撤銷亦未參加資格考試者，以一次未通過論。 8.通過規定：資格考試二次未通過者，應令退學。 9.博士班學生未於入學起四個學年內（不含休學期間）通過資格考者，應令退學。 10.博士班學生經資格考核通過者，由本系報校核備後，取得博士候選人資格。

Proposal

一、Application for Proposal

1. Prerequisite：博士班研究生需資格考試通過，始得申請論文計畫書口試。研究生應先就其研究論文擬定計畫書，由研究生論文指導教授同意後，提出參加論文計畫書口試之申請。
2. Applicant must present：論文計畫書口試申請書、歷年成績表、資格考試通過證明文件。
3. Withdraw Proposal Oral Exam：已申請論文計畫書口試之研究生，若因故無法舉行口試，填妥「論文計畫書口試撤銷申請書」
報請系辦公室撤銷該學期論文計畫書口試之申請。

二、Conduct the examination
1.論文計畫書口試委員會組成依「國立臺灣大學研究所博士暨碩士學位考試規則」辦理，博士論文計畫書口試委員為五至九人，指導教授為當然委員，其他委員由指導教授推薦之。
2.考生請至遲於確定考試日期前一個月前，填具「論文計畫口試申請書」，繳交至系辦公室承辦人員，以利進行學分與相關資料審核工作。並於口試二週前至系辦領取核定文件與口試資料袋。
3.口試時間應事先公佈並開放旁聽。
4,口試結果之認定：
（一）口試結果為通過者，博士班學生須按口試委員意見修改計畫書，由指導教授審核通過。
（二）口試若不通過，得再提出口試申請，但以一次為限，第二次未通過者即令退學。
（三）通過論文計畫書口試後，若更換指導教授，須重新申請參加論文計畫書口試。

Presentation Requirement	1.自103學年度起入學之博士班研究生，應於申請學位考試前，有不同於資格考之研究論文發表（或已接受被刊登之證件），其中至少發表一篇於SCI、SSCI或A&HCI期刊之論文。前款之論文必須以本所博士班研究生名義與指導教授共同發表，且研究生為期刊論文之第 1 作者或通訊作者，相同論文只限一位學生申請。 2. Before submission, your advisors have to approve your application. 3.論文發表之相關審查，本所於受理學位論文考試申請時，由研究生指導委員會辦理之。

Oral Dissertation Defense Exam for Doctor Degree

一、 Application for Oral Dissertation Defense
1. Prerequisite：
(1) Students who complete all courses, pass Qualifying Exam, pass Proposal Oral Exam and have a paper presentation in the conference are allowed to apply for Oral Dissertation Defense.
(2) Students must complete your dissertation draft.
2.Application Deadline：After semester begins, you can submit your application before 11/30 in the first semester and before 4/30 in the second semester.
3.Applicant must present：
(1) Please log in to myNTU, download and print your application form, then submit it to the office with your advisors' signature.
(2) Full Academic Transcript
(3) Draft dissertation and its outline
(4) Copy of paper which is presented publicly（or certificate of published paper）
4.Procedure：Please log in to myNTU, download and print your application form, then submit all necessary documents signed by your advisors to the office before deadline. Your application forms will be reviewed by administrators first, then chair of Dept. BICD will double check your qualification. Finally, your application form will be sent to Office of Academic Affairs, then the procedure of application is finished.
5.Withdraw Oral Dissertation Defense Exam：For some reason, students who could not conduct Oral Dissertation Defense Exam prior to time limit have to fill in a form and submit it to the office before deadline to cancel the exam. Students who do not conduct or cancel exam before time limit will be counted as one fail in your Oral Thesis Defense Exam.

二、Committee Members Organization
1.Committee Members are appointment by selection and should be 5 to 9 persons. One of members will be appointed as chairperson of commitee by head of Dept. or chair of graduate institute. However, student's advisors are not allowed to serve as the chairperson of committee. All members are organized which follows NTU school rules.
2.No later than one month before exam should test-takers tell administrators who your committee members are and fill in a form so that we can send out an official document to them.
3.Your score will be graded by committee members. In order to pass exam, your score have to reach B-.

三、Conduct Oral Dissertation Defense Exam
1.Deadline：You should conduct Oral Dissertation Defense Exam prior to 1/31 in the first semester. Besides, no later than 7/31 in the second semester should you finish Oral Dissertation Defense Exam.
2.Procedure：Students will receive all documents you need 2 weeks earlier before exam. Make sure all documents are correct. Make sure all facilities you need are well prepared.

Dissertation Submission	1. Students who finish dissertation should submit one hardcover dissertation to the office and submit two dissertations (at least one hardcover dissertation) to NTU Library. Submission Deadline (paper & e-file): 1st Semester before 2/15 2nd Semester before 8/20 Students whose submission is overdue and who have reached the maximum length of study will be counted as fail in your Oral Dissertation Defense Exam and will be forced to withdraw from school according to NTU school rules. 2.
